Lee Smalter is the owner and curator of Smalter Gallery on W 39th St. in Kansas City, MO.

Originally hailing from Connecticut, Lee comes “from a long line of Smalters who decided that the mid-west is more fun than the east coast…”

It was the Kansas City art community that inspired them to put down roots, where they would eventually call the W 39th neighborhood home.

As a gallerist, their philosophy has consistently been that the art itself must always come first, and that artists should be trusted. They built Smalter Gallery to be an inspiring home for artists of all types, and a welcoming space for patrons of all economic circumstances.
