Artist Statement:
This mixed media assemblage series is inspired by the treasure boxes of our childhood. Playful, nostalgic with a soupçon of surrealism, these treasure boxes incorporate collage, cyanotype, watercolor and found objects. Imaginatively exploring social and spiritual questions we face today.
Artist Bio:
Cynthia Rogers graduated Summa Cum Laude from California State University with a Masters in Art in 2005. Exhibiting her published work nationally and internationally since 2006. Rogers has garnered awards from notable judges including Los Angeles artist George Herms and Huffington post art critic Peter Frank. She has happily made Kansas City her home since 2018.
Each month on First Fridays, we invite you to join us at our secondary location, Apex Artspace. Apex Artspace is owned by, and found within, Crossroads Dentistry. Smalter Gallery are the current curators of the space, and each month we will be bringing you immersive and provocative exhibitions.
