Lee Smalter on building The Smalter Gallery’s “Non-Elitist” Community
Owner and curator of The Smalter Gallery, Lee Smalter, recently spoke at The Oak Hall Soirée, a monthly arts gathering at Oak Hall Condominiums. Lee presented photographs and stories of the building renovations that ultimately created The Smalter Gallery.
They discussed how the support and gratitude of artists and visitors helped them to overcome their own imposter syndrome. Lee also delved into how the gallery “gained the trust of those who have been left behind” as they built an accessible, community-focused art gallery.
